My People

Alright, so I really love to draw with pencils, and the other day I was trying to think of what to draw, and I was like, "Hey, this is a cool photograph of a person, I'll draw that!" But then I thought to myself, "Wait, what am I saying? I can't draw people!"
But what was my very last rant about??
Yah, I know, I'm such a hypocrite.....

So, I decided to practice drawing people.  And although it was hard, and frustrating, and i used up a lot of my erasers, I think I did get a tad bit better after awhile!
Here are some of my people drawings.  I tried to focus on parts of the human figure that I usually have trouble with: faces, hands, legs...umm, actually, I have trouble with the whole body....sooo.....haha, anyways, here are the pics...

A hand....had a lot of trouble with the thumb....

This is an eye.  I have a fascination with drawing eyes.  I love to draw them....
This is an arm at one's side (hopefully, though, you could tell)
These are legs. Walking legs.  The calves look fat....oh dear...

So after drawing a bunch of random body parts, I decided to put them together with a full body one....not so happy with the hands...they look.....hmmm, what's the right word....alien?  Strange?  Disturbing?  Hahaha :)

But, please, please, give me some feedback, people!  I NEED advice, on how I can draw people and hands and what not better, cause I'd love to be able to draw people really well :)
Have an awesome day!

  1. The best advice I could give is this: don't think of it as a hand or a leg or a face. They are just forms. Either the form is right, or it isn't. Don't worry about making it "look like a hand" until is "looks like that shape".

One thing I must ask... in that last picture, is that a dress you saw somewhere? WIth a slit that goes all the way up like that?!

    1. Thanks so much for your advice Olivia!
      Hahaha, that's not a dress, it's like a dress/ pants suite thing...and yes, I did see it in a magazine, heehee ;)

  2. Olivia's advice is very sound. But I like your efforts! I think you choose good subject matter for practice. I didn't think the woman's calves looked fat as much as very athletic.
    Keep working! Your doing well!
